HIV Virus: What It Is and How It Affects the Body

All of you probably know very well what is HIV or Human Deficiency Virus is. We call it Immunodeficiency Virus.

This virus destroys our immunity and we really die from other infections. So, you know, there is at present no vaccine for HIV virus and medical profession is working hard on getting a medicine which can treat HIV virus. Right now, we do have a medicine.

It is called LENACAPAVRI and it is twice daily injection versus daily pills. HIV right now, there is no country which is free from HIV. India has about 25 lakhs people with HIV, mostly North and Northeast states.

U.S. has more than 1.2 million or 12 lakhs people which is a higher number based on the population of U.S. living with HIV. And it is much more common in U.S. and I am sure everywhere in both gay or bisexual men. Actually, the statistics we have for 2022, like that year more than 30,000 new HIV infections were found out.

So, so many people, actually 1 in 7 people don’t even know that they have HIV infection. So, U.S. is doing its best to reduce HIV epidemic, you know, by 90% by 2030. This is 2026 at present.

To be very honest, I will recommend that we discuss every time, I mean with our sexual partner, about the HIV or, you know, sexually transmitted diseases, you know, with our partners and we should have it checked and consult a physician if needed. Nothing wrong with that. We have to, like I said, government is working hard, all the doctors are working hard on, you know, making a vaccine for HIV.

But this virus mutates or changes. So, till now in 2026 there is no vaccine available yet, but scientists do hope that they will have a new vaccine by both preventive vaccine and therapeutic vaccine by, you know, soon. So, you just, all I’m saying is just be aware of, you know, if you are being intimate about your partner and be aware of all the medical situation that can happen from intimacy and take all the precautions and get HIV regularly tested maybe once a year.

This is just a personal recommendation, but once a year all tests should be done anyway. Thank you very much.
