How High BP Damages Your Eyes?
You know, a relationship between the high blood pressure and our eyes, our vision. So, so, you know, everybody knows high blood pressure has become very, very common, especially after when we are in our 40s and 50s. So what happens is when blood pressure is high and we are not able to, we are not managing it, there are no symptoms, sometimes we just ignore it.
But bottom line is we got to manage our blood pressure, keep it close to 130, the upper number and below 90, the lower number. Anyway, so, but persistent high blood pressure, what it does is it affects the blood vessels of the eyes, the small blood vessels of the eyes. And then, and those blood vessels, then, you know, they can cause decreased blood supply to the nerves of the eyes and or they may also, very small blood rupture, they can cause bleeding and can lead to the blindness.
So, so high blood pressure does, you know, persistent high blood pressure is important cause of eye issues and it is one of the reasons for the blindness also. So it can cause, you know, some bleeding may cause this, you know, distorted vision. We may have double vision or if we do not control it and there is a lot more damage, so then it can even lead to the blindness.
So you have to understand that it is very important for us to control our blood pressure and doctors can see it. Actually, when they dilate and look at the retina, they can tell high blood pressure and they can tell the changes in the artery. So, so with the blood pressure, I think the yearly, not, I think, I think one should get a yearly or even in terms of the eye examination by an eye specialist and that will keep our eyes, you know, protect our vision.
